❗ Errors
- Document is encrypted.
What is the problem?
Your PDF is password-locked, which means we’re unable to open or print it.
If you didn’t set a password intentionally, it’s likely that you’re using a PDF export preset in Illustrator or InDesign that includes encryption settings by default.
How do I fix it?
You’ll need to disable password protection when exporting your file, or remove the password from the existing PDF.
If you’re using Affinity Designer or Publisher, you can ignore this message—Affinity software does not include password protection options.
Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
In the top menu, go to File > Save As…
In the Format dropdown, select Photoshop PDF and click Save.
In the Save Adobe PDF dialog box, set your usual PDF export options.
In the left-hand menu, click Security.
Make sure the checkboxes for:
Require a password to open the document
Use a password to restrict printing, editing and other tasks
are not ticked.
Click Save PDF.
Re-upload your file to Launch Lab.
Adobe Acrobat Pro
Alternatively, you can remove an existing password using Adobe Acrobat Pro:
Open your PDF in Acrobat Pro.
Go to Tools > Encrypt > Remove Security.
If the file has an Open password, click OK to remove it.
If it has a Permissions password, enter the password when prompted, then click OK.
Save the PDF and re-upload it to Launch Lab.
