Launch Lab
Code 0020: Text is outside margin
Error: Text is outside margin
Your Launch Lab Preflight Report PDF has returned the following warning:
What is the problem?
When a design is commercially printed, the prints are cropped down to size. To ensure that no important content is accidentally cropped off, the dielines included in all Launch Lab templates include an inner line called the margin line or safe zone. Text and artwork placed inside this line sits at a safe distance from the edge, so nothing important is accidentally trimmed off.
If you are seeing this error, your artwork file contains text that sits on or outside the margin line.
How do I fix it?
This fix is simple, but may be time-consuming depending on the size of your document: you need to check each page to find the text sitting outside the margin line, and move it so it sits inside.
We advise treating margins with care and not cramming text up against them in general, if it can be avoided - a design with room to breathe will not only be print-friendly, it will be easier for your players to read, too.
